That was startling and discouraging words to hear. Dr. Huang told Melvine she would not see her again. Melvine immediately reacted. "What do you mean I will not longer see you? Aren't you my doctor?" Dr. Huang had to back up and back paddle to explain. She said, "Melvine, you can come to see me any time you wish. What I am saying is you will have a hospice doctor, and you will not have to come to my office to see me.
Those words of impending death were devastating. My focus was on Melvine's short life, writing her obituary, and plans for her funeral service. Melvine would have nothing to do with those ideas I had. She said, "Hugh, I am not going to die, I am going to live forever. I don't want to talk about dying." So, I backed off.
God sent Melvine's first cousin, Mary Ann Shropshire Weeks and her husband, Everett, to minister to us. They drove all the way from Richmond, VA to share with us what we already knew about God's ability to heal Melvine through the stripes of Jesus. But we needed to hear it again. Faith comes by the hearing of the Word. She quoted a number of Scriptures, served us communion, and anointed us with oil in the Name of Jesus.
That was a turning point in our thinking and and in our daily prayers. We are studying about God's Will to heal us and what He is able to do for us though His Son, Jesus Christ. As a result, Melvine is improving daily and gaining new strength and energy. For the last two or three Sundays we have been able to attend church and hopefully, today, Sunday, November 24, we will attend Sunday school and church. We love to go to church and worship with the people of God, people we have known for many years.
God, the Bible, prayer, daily communion with our Lord is our life. There is no turning back. What is good, too, is that the hospice staff are seeing the change in Melvine and are giving testimony to what is happening.
We have relied upon your prayers, too. God has heard your voices and your pleading for Melvine's healing which is the Will of God.
The Apostle Peter sums it up about our eternal salvation and healing in one succinct Scripture recorded in 1 Peter 2:24.
1 Peter 2:24
24 He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds (stripes) you have been healed.

Therefore, Melvine and I do rejoice at this Thanksgiving Season and give God all the glory, honor, and praise.
