You never know what will happen next when your wife is on home hospice care. We got a call today, Wednesday, letting us know that our regular nurse would not be coming, but instead another nurse in the system will fill in today. Her name is Joann Rodriguez. We really like her.
Melvine responded favorably to her. She asked Melvine a lot of questions to get acquainted. Joann said several times how good Melvine looks. She observed the smoothness of her skin and that she is without wrinkles. She asked Melvine if she were cooking. Melvine told her, No. However, that put a thought in Melvine's mind, and she talked tonight with Greg and me about getting back in the kitchen and cooking again.
Once again, a nurse told us that their patients live longer than the doctors predicted they would live. She said, "They are making an "educated guess."
Our focus has moved away from thinking and talking death. We are speaking life and health and peace. The tongue has the power of life and death. Most of all we are quoting the Scriptures and reading them daily.
The Apostle Peter helps us to balance our thinking and beliefs when he wrote the following in 1 Peter 2:24:
1 Peter 2:24
Who His own self bare our sins in His body upon the tree, that we, having died unto sins, might live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.

In one verse of Scripture Peter writes about our eternal salvation and adds that we were healed by the stripes of Jesus. What a double blessing. It is ours today. Melvine and I are claiming this promise in the Name of Jesus.
At this Thanksgiving season we are rejoicing in God's gift of eternal life when He saved us by His grace through faith, and has healed us by His stripes.
