The year 2015 was a significant year for Melvine and me. In the providence of God we lost our wonderful dentist, Dr. Don Brady who retired, we lost Dr. Steven Chesser our family physician, our local pharmacy, and our pastor, J. Brian Williams.
However, God has given us good people to step right in and help us. We have Dr. Jordon Chandler who is a young dentist and he is doing an excellent job. We have a new pastor and he is the best of the best in the known world. He is Brad Cooper. We have a new family physician. She is Alice Edwards, MD who is a stately woman, intelligent, thorough, and has demonstrated humility and loving care. She is committed to seeing that we get every test known to man to make sure we are healthy and eating properly.
This morning, February 16, I will be driving, provided the roads are not iced over, to St. Mary's Cardiac Imaging Center for a nuclear stress test, an echocardiogram, and fitted for a halter monitor for my heart.
The new cardiologist, my previous cardiologist retired, who is assigned to me says my heart rate is too slow. Other doctors have told me that I have an athlete's heart. Maybe that has changed. Whatever the case, I want my heart to perform well so I can live the allotted number of days and years God has for me to live and move and do His highest Will. I have no plans for checking out of this life before my time. However, I believe I am ready to go whenever the Lord calls me. I have placed my trust in Jesus and His shed blood on the cross for my redemption. I believe in the resurrection of Jesus and that He lives evermore to make intercession for me and for all who will trust Him to be their Savior and Lord.
Here is a verse of Scripture that I cling to for my faith: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation" ( 2 Corinthians 5:17-19, NKJV).
I must do a better job in daily exercise. I have excess weight to get off. I am overweight. I have joined the Winder YMCA that has all the exercise equipment I will ever need and most of all an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. I enjoy swimming.
Then, I must discipline my time each day to write on the book I am writing about our Stephanie. I have completed one chapter that I entitled, "Where Was God When Stephanie Died?" Now, I am working on a chapter dealing with the process of grief. This is the toughest assignment of my life. I need your prayers and moral support. I have signed a contract with Tate Publishers in Mustang, OK to publish and promote this book. I have never written a book in my life, and this is a new adventure for a 83-year-old-man. I know I can do all things that I need to do through Christ Who strengthens me.
I covet your prayers and thoughts in the days that lie ahead. I want to remain faithful to you in producing Hugh's News which I have done now for a little over 18 years. I am grateful to each one of you who subscribes or reads Hugh's News. It belongs to God. I am the steward of such a treasure to the International Pentecostal Holiness Church and the body of Christ worldwide.
I thank you in advance for your commitment to pray for me. I believe in the power of prayer.
