Hebrews 12:14-15 Pursue peace, holiness, grace, and forgiveness -- Don't allow bitterness to destroy you
14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.

Hebrews 12:14-15 Work at Getting along with each other and with God. Avoid weeds of bitter discontent
14 Work at getting along with each other and with God. Otherwise you'll never get so much as a glimpse of God. 15 Make sure no one gets left out of God's generosity. Keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent.

Hebrews 12:14 Respond to the grace God gives us and thereby avoid a bitter spirit that poisons lives of many.
Let it be your ambition to live at peace with all men and to achieve holiness "without which no man shall see the Lord". Be careful that none of you fails to respond to the grace which God gives, for if he does there can very easily spring up in him a bitter spirit which is not only bad in itself but can also poison the lives of many others.

[Editor's commentary: On Monday, Melvine and I studied the principle of forgiveness, the perils of unforgiveness, and the bitterness that can result from unforgiveness that can damage our physical hearts. We did that as we read Charles R. Swindoll's devotional book, Good Morning, Lord . . . Can We talk?
Let us add to our thanksgiving list the blessings of forgiveness. I remember a number of years ago God used a dream to warn me that I had not forgiven a brother in Christ who had wronged me. In fact, God revealed that I had not forgiven this man and as a result bitterness was destroying my physical heart. In fact, tests revealed that the firing system of my heart had been damaged due to the bitterness I had allowed to grip my heart. God graciously gave me the gift of repentance. While kneeling in prayer I consciously forgave that brother and the bitterness in my spirit was removed. I forgave that brother, and one year later he wrote me a letter asking for my forgiveness. I was happy to write him back and let him know I had forgiven him the year before. The record was cleared not only between the two of us, but the record was cleared in heaven at the throne room of God.
I praise God for the ability God gives to forgive and to love others. I, too, need forgiveness. How about you?"
