Melvine made it through another day. She tires easily. Just walking a short distance in our home causes her to be short of breath. We finally got the pain medicine on Monday around noon. One of the side of effects of this particular medication is drowsiness and sleep. Melvine falls asleep now sitting in her chair in our Florida Room. When she awakened today, she decided to go to bed and slept until noon. Melvine has always resisted going to bed in the daytime. For her to go to bed during the day is something new for her.
Melvine's body needs rest and sleep. She is not to do any work. I am endeavoring to do the things she normally has done. It is difficult for her to ask for help.
Today, Thursday, September the 27th, we will have our cleaning ladies come to clean our home. They do a great job. She doesn't need that chore at her age. I have given up on doing any yard work. I get others to do it. I have hired a man to do it. However, he had surgery and Ken Phillips came last Friday to cut our grass, weed eat, edge the grass at the side walk and drive way, and he put out round up where it was needed, and blew off the sidewalk, driveway, porch, and back patio. He does an impeccable job. It is wonderful to have a great church family. Ken is our director of Men's Ministries at our local Pentecostal Holiness Church in Athens, GA.
We ate our left overs from the supper that Pam Kesling brought us on Tuesday. It was even better a day later. Pam is our pastor's wife. She is a wonderful cook and a dynamic Christian lady and leader.
Bonnie Bender will bring our supper today. She is a member of the Tuesday morning Ladies Bible study and prayer group. Bonnie fills in for Melvine. Melvine had never missed until she got sick.
On Friday, I will take Melvine to see her oncologist to find out the results of the biopsy that was taken of the growth/tumor in the lining of her stomach. Melvine wants to know the facts that the biopsy has revealed. Melvine reserves any judgment until she knows the origin of this tumor, if it is in other parts of her body, what the prognosis is, and the treatment plan. She does not want to go through radiation or chemo therapy. She watched our Stephanie go through all of that, and she is not willing to do it. She has lived a full and fruitful life, and if God wants to bring her home to heaven, she is ready to go. I asked her on Thursday, "Melvine are you ready to stay?" We know well the Apostle Paul's view of death and going to heaven. We agree.
Melvine will be 84 years old on December 16 of this year. I will be 86 on the day before, or December 15.
We believe that God is our Healer. He uses various methods to bring about our healing. Therefore, we seek medical help. However, we pray first, and request prayer at our church, and we are anointed with oil in the Name of Jesus and the prayer of faith of the saints is heard in heaven.
Our trust is in Jesus and all the promises recorded in the Bible.
Here is a favorite verse written in the Book of Romans:
Romans 15:13
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
NKJV
