The wait is over, the food has been delivered to our door.
Jennifer who lives in Winder, and the office for Meals on Wheels is in Winder, came to our door with the food professional prepared plastic containers along with two cartons of 2 per cent milk. I signed my name to acknowledge the reception of the food.
To prepare the food for our lunch, I only had to put the containers in the micro oven. The instructions tell us to cook the mail from 2 to 4 minutes. I chose 2 minutes, but I think I will increase the time of cooking or heating the food from 2 to 3 minutes. We had to add some salt to flavor the food.
Here is the menu:
Beef Bourguignon over Egg Noodles paired with Broccoli
What does this mean? That's a good question? Thanks for asking. I must admit that I looked it
up on the Internet, I didn't know either:
Beef bourguignon (Boeuf à la Bourguignon in French), which features beef braised in red wine,
pearl onions, and button mushrooms, flavored with strips of pork fat called lardons.
I can report that the food was very good.
I gave Melvine and me a slice of bread that I buttered.
We are so grateful to Arlette Revells who did the research and found out how to get Melvine and me
Meals on Wheels. It didn't cost us a dime. I understand from my good friend Lonnie Rex that the people who bring the food to our home are volunteers and do this as a ministry and service to people in their community with joy.
I am sure the best is yet to come.
I was so glad that we got a meal today. The weather was cold and raining. I certainly didn't want to get out in this kind of climate. It is winter time in Winder, Georgia.
