I wanted to inform you that our mutual friend, Janice Robinson Russ, of Beltsville, MD, is in great need of our prayers.
Preliminary tests show the "mass" on the base of her tongue is squamous cell carcinoma. It is my understanding that this cancer is rare and most doctors do not know how to treat it. She will meet with the surgeon this week to discuss her options.
In talking with Wesley on Sunday evening by phone, he revealed that Janice has not been able to drink anything today (Sunday). She was drinking Boost to help her, but could not swallow anything. I am concerned that she will be dehydrated. Wesley will take her in the morning, Monday, to Kaiser Permanente where they can give her IV's to put fluids in her body.
Wesley was able to get her to Kaiser Permanente where she was given IV's to hydrate her. They are trying to get a room at Holy Cross Hospital where they will insert feeding tubes. As of 9 p. m. they were waiting for word from Holy Cross Hospital about a room for Janice, and when that room becomes available Janice will be taken by ambulance to the hospital.
I sense in my spirit that the health condition is critical. We need to bring Janice to Jesus like the four men brought their friend, a paralytic, down through a roof in which they made an opening in the roof of the house. In our case, we can bring Janice to Jesus in prayer. It was the Apostle Peter who wrote, "Casting all your cares upon Jesus for He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).
In Daniel's magnificent prayer in the 2nd chapter of Daniel, he concludes his prayer by these words of thanksgiving for:
wisdom
strength
and glowing health
Daniel 2:23. The glowing health rendering is recorded in The Living Bible.
I have know Janice since 1952. She has been a Christian from early childhood and has lived for Jesus and His Kingdom faithfully all of her life. She and Wesley (whom I met in 1964) are two of our best friends in the known world.

Melvine and I joined hands and hearts in prayer for Janice this evening, Sunday, April 17. Earlier this evening, I prayed with Wesley for God to heal Janice over the phone. Now, this is Monday evening, and we continue to pray. Melvine will request prayer for Janice at the Ladies Bible study and prayer group that meets every Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at Christian Life Worship Center, formerly known as Tarkenton Memorial Church at 125 Kathwood Drive, Athens, GA. Melvine is the leader of this group of Christian leaders.
