We were so glad Greg was home on Tuesday to take us to Melvine's appointment with Dr. Julio Pena, a kidney doctor. It is getting progressively more difficult for Melvine and me to get ready to go to all these doctor's appointments, and often, CAT scans, x-rays, blood work and urine specimen's that are required a week in advance of these appointments.
I want to give praise to God that living near Athens, GA, the home of the University of Georgia, and the Georgia Bulldogs, is a good place to live. We undoubtedly have some of the finest doctors and hospitals in America, emergency and urgent care clinics, and all the medical support citizens need.
Shortly after we arrived at Dr. Pena's office, Melvine's name was called. Greg and I went with Melvine to see the tech who weighed Melvine and took her blood pressure. Melvine had gained a couple of pounds after some 50 pounds she has lost since last September when she was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer.
Melvine's blood pressure was 138/63. Her temperature was 96.7. Her pulse was 53.
First, we met with Dr. Pena's nurse practitioner, Emily. She is fabulous. We really like her. She explains things so well. She went over with us Melvine's blood work. The kidneys were fine and functioning properly. She is not anemic and needs no iron supplement. Melvine is cleared to go until the next appointment for blood work and a visit with the doctor in late October. It is apparent that God is watching over Melvine, and me too.
Today, Melvine was coherent, alert, responsive, articulate and answered every question Dr. Pena and Emily asked her. I was so very proud of her, and I know Greg was, too.
There is hope when we place our trust in God. I love what the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 15:13 about hope:
Romans 15:13
13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
NIV
There you have it from the Holy Trinity: God the Father, (the pronoun Him) Jesus Christ His Son, and the blessed Holy Spirit.
Melvine and I will see our family doctor on Wednesday, that's today. Both of us have appointments. After we finish there, we will travel to Athens from Watkinsville to see Dr. Bellnap, a new urologist in our classic city. He is a member of the cluster of urologists where I go to see Dr. Gary Walton.
We want to thank you all for your many prayers. So many are sending cards, emails, and calling. We love all methods of communications. The only thing I have not seen are smoke signals floating in the western skies from Oklahoma and Texas.
