When you and I live by faith in God and learn to trust Him daily the opportunities to witness for Christ are limitless.
The main purpose of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the 120 disciples, including the mother of Jesus, is that God gave them the power to be witnesses to Jesus Christ.
Moments before our Lord's ascension Jesus told His disciples about the power of the Holy Spirit Who would dwell in their lives:
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8, NIV).
It is my prayer that in this new day for evangelism, that God is giving to the church, that the Holy Spirit will come on you and me to empower us to do the work of an evangelist. This move of the Holy Spirit to come shortly will be unprecedented. I want to be a part of it. How about you?
We must know the message of salvation. It is recorded or written in the Bible, and in the Apostles Creed:
"I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; which (Who) was conceived by the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit), born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell [that is, the place of the departed righteous]; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven; and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit); the holy catholic [universal] church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and life everlasting. Amen."
One way to witness is to ask the person "Who is Jesus?" Then, follow it up with what does He mean to you? Have you received Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord of your life? That is very direct. I use it sometimes.
Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will be poured out upon us today. I want Him. I need Him. May He descend upon my heart this day.
