Thursday started off as one of those days you just feel like being lazy. It was hard to get up, and yet we knew we should. This was the day our cleaning ladies were to come to clean our home, really Melvine's Home. I say that lovingly. It is home for me when Melvine is at home. Melvine keeps an orderly home, clean, neat, well decorated and everything is in place. She is highly organized. My dear departed mother told me that I should observe Melvine's mother, how she looks and how she keeps her home, and that will be the kind of wife Melvine will be. My mother had a lot of wisdom, and she was right.
Melvine's mother was absolutely beautiful. Melvine is beautiful too. Both Frances Shropshire Stewart and Melvine Stewart Morgan are excellent cooks. Melvine makes the best spaghetti in the known world. She uses angel hair pasta, and makes the best spaghetti sauce, with Parmesan & Romano Cheese, with Italian bread. Melvine makes the best unsweetened ice tea in the known world. Why go out to an Italian Restaurant when you have the best Italian food in your home?
Elvio Canavesio from Oklahoma City called and told me that he read what I had written about Melvine and felt that I had made a statement of our faith in God in these days of uncertainty as we are trusting the God of certainty and security. He said that He and June Carter Canavesio were going to their knees in prayer for Melvine's healing.
Elvio went on to say that when he arrived at Holmes Bible College from his home in Argentina he knew very little and could barely speak English. He said he remembered that when Melvine walked to the pulpit to sing, she looked like an angel and he loved her singing that ministered to his spirit and soul.
June Carter Canavesio, his wife, is the aunt of our pastor, Terry Kesling.
Melvine got a call from her oncologist office reminding her of her appointment today, Friday, at 2 p.m. We hope to learn about the tumor they found in the lining of her stomach. I will call in the morning and ask them to have a wheelchair for Melvine. I don't think it is wise for her to walk very far. She hurts when she walks and gets out of breath. I want her to be comfortable and not worry about having to walk or fall.
Bonnie Bender brought our supper Thursday evening. It was her special recipe for lasagna plus a salad and deviled eggs. Her husband, Sam, made his specialty, Peach Turnover Pies. He made them with peaches he had canned and used Spenda instead of sugar. I call Bonnie a spiritual cheer leader. She is always happy, joyful and full of life. She is a friend everyone needs. She is a registered nurse, and has compassion for those suffering.
Greg, our son, calls daily to check on his mom and his dad. He will be driving home for the weekend and we look forward to seeing him and having him at home. He is doing what he loves to do--teaching music, choral, keyboard, etc. He has an ensemble and a choir of 40 middle school youth. He has an Associate of Arts degree in music education from Emmanuel College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education with a concentration in voice from Oral Roberts University. He sang in the Oral Roberts Concert Choir and sang several times with this choir on the Oral Robert TV Show. In recent years, Greg has been a member of the Gwinnett Symphony Chorus (GSC) and Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra.
