You will thrill at the lovely voice of Roma Downey as she reads the Irish Benediction. It is one that I have not memorized, but I will commit to memory. I want to thank Andie at Andie\'s Isle for transcribing this beautiful benediction for me in order that I can share it with you.
You may Click Here on this hyperlink I have prepared for you so you can enjoy this video. I want to thank Gay Shepherd for sending this website link of beautiful Ireland to me. She is just wonderful in sharing with me such beautiful pictures. She and Frank reside in Elon, NC. They are members of our Burlington church.
As the piece starts, the pictures of Ireland are amazing, but wait until you get to the spoken part. It's beautiful, and you don't have to be Irish to enjoy it!
Here is An Irish Blessing
by Phil Coulter
May the blessing of light be upon you
Light on the outside and light on the inside.
With God's sunlight shining on you,
May your heart glow with warmth like a turf fire
That welcomes friends and strangers alike.
May the light of the Lord shine from your eyes
like a candle in the window, welcoming the weary traveler.
May the blessing of God's soft rain be on you,
Falling gently on your head, refreshing your soul
With the sweetness of little flowers newly blooming.
May the strength of the winds of Heaven bless you,
carrying rain to wash your spirit clean, sparkling after, in the sunlight.
May the blessing of God's earth be on you and
As you walk the roads, may you always have a
kind word for those you meet.
May you understand the strength and power
of God in a thunderstorm in winter, the quiet
beauty of creation and the calm of a summer sunset.
And may you come to realize that insignificant as you may seem
in this great universe, you are an important part of God's plan.
God bless you all.
May God's blessings be upon you and your family.
[The editor dedicates today's Irish Benediction to Anne and Charles Phillips in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I chose Ann Phillips to be my personal secretary, administrative assistant, and office manager shortly after becoming president of Southwestern College. Her work and ministry can be summed up in one word--Copacetic--excellent, superb, and about all expectations. Melvine and I are grateful for Charles and Ann Phillips. We highly value their friendship.]
