Then Came Jesus
Author: Ronald Gadberry
Sin had spoiled the universe and Lucifer laid low
Stars now wandered aimlessly with no place left to go
A darkness had eroded the once majestic sky
Empty planets shook with fear as though about to die
Then came Jesus Whose light chased out the darkness and the fear
Whose call across the universe bade wandering souls come near
Whose voice filled up the emptiness with hopeful, joyful life
Whose hand, outstretched commanded an end to deadly strife
Sin came to the garden where peaceful lives were born
The serpent with his whispers turned that peace to doubt and scorn
And driven from the garden with the knowledge they would die
The man and woman crept away with broken hearts to cry
Then came Jesus Whose heart was set on bringing back the lost
Who knew full well the anguish and the sorrow it would cost
And when He felt the serpents fangs drive deeply in His heel
Crushed his head in righteousness with fierce uncommon zeal
Sin has come to tear our land and families apart
Murders and adulteries and abortions just to start
And hoping to erode the trust that we have held in Him
Have cursed our land, our laws our plans and left us feeling grim
But here comes Jesus
Whose light is filling up the heavens far and near
Whose joy is more than we can stand, who drives away all fear
Whose home awaits the faithful and who beckons us to come
And I can hardly wait to join the Father and the Son

[Who is Ronald Gadberry? I am so glad you asked. Let me tell about this man of God:
He is an ordained minister of the Gospel in the New Horizons Conference in Oklahoma. He was licensed by The California Conference when he was fifteen, ordained by the same Conference at eighteen and assigned his first church in Clinton, OK the following year.
Ronald served on the Conference Board in New Horizons for eight years, on the Christian Education Board for eight, four of which as Director.
Ronald and Jody have more than forty years as pastors and as CE Directors were privileged to preach youth camps from California to Florida.
At present they are retired but pastoring in Konawa, OK.
As for his writing, "Then Came Jesus" is just one poem of which he has written close to one thousand. He has published two books and loves to write short stories. Writing is his passion and he is privileged of share with the readers of Hugh's News readers.
Although Ronald Gadberry and I have never met, we hope to see each other in the near future should the Lord permit that to happen.]
