Daniel 12:3-4
Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.
NRSV
[Editor's Comment: After I shared with my mother that God had called me to preach the Gospel she told me the story of how God spoke to her about me when I was in her womb. She was admiring my beautiful sister, Mary Evelyn, who is 2 years and 9 months older than me, the Holy Spirit said in her heart, "Yes, she is beautiful, and I have a specific plan for her life. But the one in your womb, a son, will be my star. He will win many to rightessness. The Scripture verse in Daniel became a rhema word for her concerning my life and calling.
When thinking and praying about a Scriptural mission statement the Holy Spirit reminded me of my converatation with my Godly mother. The good thing is that she had never told to me what the Holy Spirit had revealed to her some 19 years earlier. She said, "Hugh, I wanted God to call you, not me." I am grateful that she waited for the right time to tell me. May we all learn to wait on God for the right moment and place to reveal what God has shown us.
In January 2017, I will begin my 20th year of producing Hugh's News. Thank you for standing with me all these years by your prayers and financial contributions that make it possible for me to send out Hugh's News in a mass mailing fo several thousand people. It all started with only 13 active duty military chaplains in the Army, Navy, and Air Force. God has caused it to grow beyond anything I had ever envisioned. Thank you for your faithfulness over these two decades for allowing me to come into your home, office, or work place with Hugh's News.
