The Rev. Mr. Raymond Carr Raymond Carr was born in Jacksonville, FL on January 27, 1927, son of the late Willis I. Carr and the late Edith McCoy Carr. He was an ordained minister in the International Pentecostal Holiness Church for 71 years. Rev. Carr pastored churches in Florida and Georgia, served in leadership of the Georgia Conference, and served in Stewardship ministry. Additionally, Rev. Carr was an educator for 32 years. He established the DCT (Diversified Career Technology) program at Franklin County High School, where he taught until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Carey Carr; son, Ray Carr of Franklin Springs, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Christy Carr of Hull, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Phil Genetti of Franklin Springs, GA; grandchildren, Lee Carr, Michael Carr, Bray Carr List, Brianne Carr, Alex Genetti, Anna Genetti, and Joey Genetti; and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Carr was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Carr; a granddaughter, Amy Carr Brown; and a great granddaughter; Evie List.
Funeral services for Rev. Carr will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Tim Lamb, Rev. Keith Hearn, and Rev. Bert Synan officiating. Interment will follow in the Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery in Royston, GA.
The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening, August 19, 2016.
Rev. Carr will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The family is at the home.

[Editor's Comment: I met Raymond and Sue Carey Carr when I was a freshman at Emmanuel College in 1952. Raymond was the pastor of the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church. I was privileged to sit under his preaching. He had guest speakers from time to time, and I remember a great revival when Evangelist Sam Todd came to preach. The altars were full and I was one of the students in the altar seeking to know the Will of God for my life.
After I completed my enlistment in the United States Marines and returned to college, first to Asbury College in Wilmore, KY, and then to Holmes Bible College, Raymond invited me to preach one Sunday morning at his church in Tallapoosa, GA. He was noted for helping young ministers and giving them opportunity to preach.
Through the years I have maintained my contact and connection with Emmanuel College, and have visited the campus many times. That contact has equally been with Raymond and Sue Carey Carr. I have visited in their home many times, and attended revivals, camp meetings and special events in Franklin Springs on the campus of Emmanuel College.
Raymond and Sue have been a great source of encouragement as well as offering me the information I needed at any given time. Our Christian beliefs and values were the same.
Raymond and Sue provided a role model for all of us. They recently celebrated their 69th Wedding Anniversary. They have kept their wedding vows and have been faithful and loyal to each other. God has blessed them with children who are Christians, as well as their spouses, and their children.
I want to thank them, especially Sue who was the administratrix of Joseph King's estate. Through her efforts, she was able to help Bishop Doug Beacham and the IPHC purchase the historic King Home for a treasure to maintain our rich history with the King family and preserve the life and legacy of Bishop Joseph H. King.]
