December 30, 1932 is when Malcolm Herndon was born. God has abundantly blessed him and given him a long and fruitful life.
Malcolm Herndon was born exactly 15 days after my birth, which is December 15, 1932.
His beautiful wife is Mary. Together God has given them four boys and a girl.
Malcolm taught Math and science courses at Emmanuel College for 30 years.
Malcolm was in the Army for three years on active duty and was stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, AK. That was when his oldest son, Keith, was born. He served some 21 years in the military. We thank him for his service to our country.
Meanwhile, Malcolm joined the Air Force Reserve and retired with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was certified by the Air Force as a Master Teacher and was awarded a badge to indicate this achievement. That distinctive award increased his salary when serving in the Air Force, and was a great blessing to him in providing for his family while teaching at Emmanuel College.
He taught Chaplain Assistants during the summers at Keesler AFB. In addition, he taught math at South College in Savannah for a number of years.
Malcolm is an ordained minister of the Cornerstone Conference, formerly called Western North Carolina Conference.
He is a member of Chaplains Ministries, IPHC, as a Chaplain Assistant. He is a vital part of the ministry of chaplains. He is a team player.
Charlie Bradshaw helped him to purchase land and build his home. Malcolm says it is the best location in Franklin Springs.
Malcolm has been very active in his church, the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church. For years he planned and got speakers for the Wednesday night Bible study and prayer service.
He has been a chaplain in the Ty Cobb Hospital and the new hospital in Lavonia.
Malcolm is a friend of mine. I wish to honor him on his 87th birthday today. I am glad he is my junior with respect to age.
May God grant Malcolm and Mary Herndon many more years of the abundant life that Jesus promises us.
