The Peace Giver
Author: Greg Morgan
Peace is such a precious thing to have. As the world has been so adversely affected by the coronavirus, we need peace. People who have lost loved ones recently, need peace. People in pain need peace. In fact we all need peace, don’t we?
I love the word shalom which is Hebrew for peace. In English Bibles it has been translated as peace indeed. However, the fuller meaning of shalom is peace, harmony, wholeness, completeness, prosperity, wellness, and tranquility. Can you believe that? I just want to shout Hallelujah, don’t you?
John 14:27 goes further with the words of Jesus Who said:
"27 Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge" (Amplified Bible).
Usually, when I have the privilege of writing an article for Hugh’s News, I often think of a song, I guess because I’m a musician. As I was writing this I thought of a song that a friend wrote with her husband. She is Dawn Thomas Yarbrough and her husband is Thomas Yarbrough. Dawn and I were music majors at Oral Roberts University in the 1980s. She is a committed Christian and a great songwriter. She and her husband wrote "I’ll Give you Peace" that Sandi Patty, my favorite singer, recorded in the early 1990s.
Enjoy the YouTube video of Sandi Patty singing I’ll give you Peace, and realize that God gives peace, Harmony, wholeness, completeness, prosperity, wellness and tranquility. Enjoy the peace, shalom, that only God can give.
Blessings,
Greg
