Rick Haug's report:
Snow crunched underfoot as the crowd hurried in out of the cold to the warm embrace of the Bergen Missionary Church. They gathered for a tribute and celebration of the late Rev. Walter Gamble. For over 70 years Walter served the Kingdom of God through the Canadian Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Greetings and condolences from Bishop A.D. Beacham and Bishop Gordon McDonald were read by Missionary Regional Director Bob Cave. Bob was attended by his wife Carol. Rev. Gamble served multiple pastorates in Canada and served as President of two Bible Colleges (Foothills Bible Institute - Alberta; Christian View Bible College - Ontario). Walter Gamble is survived by his wife Lillian and his five children (Gord Gamble, Gwen Gunderson, Ann Hilsden, Karen Boldt and Dan Gamble) 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Psalmist Trevor Haug led in worship and emceed the service. Walter’s nephew Harvey Gamble of Calgary gave the eulogy. Rick Haug shared Walts impact on his life. Pastor Rob Holland of Bergen Missionary Church gave the message.
Each of the children shared fond memories of their Father as did two of the grandchildren.
Laughter and tears marked the marvelous tribute to a great soldier of the Cross.
As the sun sank in spectacular fashion over the snow capped Rocky Mountains, Rev. Walter Gamble was laid to rest overlooking the Bergen Community he was raised in. The valley was covered in a thick blanket of snow. Slowly family and friends walked away from the graveside- the snow yet crunching underfoot.
