This photo of Bette and Pastor Bill Anderson was in my archives. Bette had sent me an announcement about their 68th Wedding Anniversary and this lovely photo. Bette wrote me often, and from time to time would send a check to help me with the operating expenses of Hugh's News, Inc.
We will ever be indebted to Bette and Pastor Bill Anderson for their ministry to our family. It was a joy to worship at Muse Memorial. It is amazing to know that the first three presidents of Southwestern College and their wives worshiped at Muse Memorial Church--Dr. R. O. Corvin, Dr. W. R. Corvin, and Dr. Hugh H. Morgan. God gave us a camaraderie and love for each other and an appreciation for the work and ministry of being a college president. I greatly admired and respected my predecessors. They were great men, proven educators and leaders.
Melvine and I were blessed to have Greg and Stephanie worshiping with us at Muse Memorial Church. They loved to go up to the balcony. They enjoyed sitting up there with their friends.
I wish I could mention the names of a whole host of people we met and got to know at Muse Memorial Church. We felt loved and looked forward to going to Sunday school and church as well as Wednesday night services. We were there for a part of the six-week revival with Bishop Jesse Winley. What a man! How he could preach. He invited me to have lunch with him one day, and he spoke prophetically into my life and greatly encouraged me. He told the congregation after the news broke of my resignation as president of Southwestern College that they should not worry about Dr. Hugh Morgan, Melvine and their children. He assured them that God had His hand upon my life and that my ministry would be blessed as I was going to Birmingham to be the pastor of a great church. His friendship and love were a source of encouragement for me as I made a transition once again to the local pastorate. And it was all good.]
