At the time of this writing of Hugh's News (11:45 p. m., October 5, 2016), the National Hurricane Center has announced the greatest chance of hurricane-force winds right along Florida's east coast. Those damaging winds are likely to occur no matter whether the center of Matthew makes landfall or stays just offshore. The exact strength of the winds will depend on how close the eyewall passes to the coast.
Structural wind damage will be possible along with downed trees and widespread power outages in areas where hurricane-force winds occur. Matthew is forecast to be a major hurricane (Category 3 or stronger) when it moves near Florida's east coast, so extreme wind damage cannot be ruled out. Once again, that will depend on the exact path of the eyewall. Should the center of Matthew ride right along the coast of Florida, hurricane-force winds could occur as far inland as Lake Okeechobee and the Orlando area in Florida.
The above is highly trained scientist assessment of what the path of destruction Hurricane Matthew will do in untold devastation on the east coast of the United States of America, not withstanding the lost of hundreds of lives. More than 15 million people and their homes and businesses will be effected.
I don't know about you, but I have been praying all day and asking Almighty God to intervene. I am crying out for God's mercy and goodness to be granted. We know that Jesus had authority and power to calm an angry storm on the Sea of Galilee. He spoke peace to the angry wind and waves, and the sea obeyed. Why? He is the God-Man. He is the Creator of the World and all that there is.
In Chapter 2 of the Book of Daniel, the Scripture says, "Daniel blessed the God of heaven." Then,
Daniel answered and said:
"Blessed be the Name of God forever and ever,
For wisdom and might are His.
21 And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.
22 He reveals deep and secret things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
And light dwells with Him.
23 "I thank You and praise You,
O God of my fathers;
You have given me wisdom and might,
And have now made known to me what we asked of You,
For You have made known to us the king's demand."

The Bible teaches us to pray. Jesus taught His disciples to pray. James, a half brother of Jesus, wrote in his epistle these words about the power of the prayer of Elijah:
"Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops" (James 5:17-18, NIV).
I have been praying and continue to pray that God would weaken the eye of this hurricane, by the name of Matthew, and cause it to change its course dramatically, and make it veer to the right and head out to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and fizzle out completely.
Can such a thing happen? Yes, with God all things are possible. Why not use this powerful hurricane as an example of calling upon God to help us, to move this terrible hurricane into the Atlantic Ocean? God can spare our people living in the path of this power storm from major peril and destruction, and save their lives.
I still believe that God specializes in things thought impossible and He can do for us and the good people of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina an act of His mercy, grace, and protection. He rules the universe, and this storm can be stopped now. May it happen. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
