LAKELAND, FL - The Emmanuel Women's Basketball team have suffered their 3rd loss of the season to Florida Southern on Thursday afternoon, December 17, in the Florida Southern Christmas Classic.
A strong first quarter by Southern, where they outscored Emmanuel 24 to 11 set the stage for their 79-67 win. The Lions top scorer was Addie McNeely, who came in off the bench to claim 13 points and 2 rebounds. Elise Coberly had 9 points and 5 rebounds. Emmanuel scored a majority of points off the bench, with some of the usual large contributors struggling to get points on the board. The Lions showed resolve though, able to fight back and reduce the deficit in the 4th quarter where they outscored Florida Southern 21-11.
The Lions have a quick turnaround, with a 4 p.m. appearance against Livingstone scheduled for Friday.
The Lions will be searching for their 7th win of the season to wrap up the 2015 year, their next game scheduled for January 2nd 2016 against Mount Olive at the Jack and Jane Shaw Athletic Center—"to exalt Jesus Christ."
