Greenville, SC – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team headed into the NCCAA D1 South Regional Tournament hosted at Bob Jones University.
As the #1 seed, the Lions took on the #4 ranked Columbia International University in the semi-finals. With a dominant performance, the Lions shut them down 94-52. Freshman guard, Austin Green had a big game, putting up 16 points and 6 assists, helping the Lions move on to the finals.
In the championship round, the Lions once again rolled through the competition. #2 ranked Carver College came off a recent victory against Bob Jones University, but the momentum wasn't enough to faze Emmanuel. In a 99-69 victory, Emmanuel's Steven Guinchard put up 15 points off 5 three-pointers while Kendrick Colvin had 16 points of his own.
Three Emmanuel basketball players were named to the NCCAA D1 South All Region Team. Both Steven Guinchard and Kurtis Robinson were named to the first team while Zach Lillie was named to the second team. In addition, Head Coach TJ Rosene was named the South Regional Coach of the Year.
The Lions will continue play at the NCCAA D1 National Championship Tournament on Wednesday, March 16th at 9:15 PM against Central Christian.
