FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA -- The Emmanuel College Women's Soccer Team captured the NCCAA South Region Championship after a win against the #1 seed Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday night's game. This victory earns the ladies a shot at the NCCAA National Championship in Kissimmee, Florida November 27-December 2, 2017.
Against SWU, the Lions started off strong. Emmanuel was on offense almost the entire period, allowing SWU only to take one shot in the final seconds. Nearly 16 minutes into the game, Lindsay Lee (#14) scored a goal for the Lions to take the lead 1-0. Emmanuel held the lead for the remainder of the game to defeat SWU 1-0. This was Lindsay's 11th goal of the season. Goal Keeper Marina Eisenhut (#1) had 4 saves for the night.
This game marked the biggest win for Women's Soccer in school history as they captured the NCCAA South Region Championship for the first time ever.
With the South Region Championship in hand, Emmanuel will travel to the Austin-Tindall Soccer Complex in Kissimmee, Florida to compete in the 2017 NCCAA D1 Women's Soccer National Championship. This tournament spans from November 27th - December 2nd 2017. The Ladies have a long road ahead of them as they compete against the Nations best schools in the NCCAA for a chance at the title.
The first game for the #7 seed Emmanuel will be Monday, November 27 as they take on #3 Seed Biola University, followed by a game on Tuesday November 28th against #4 Trinity International University. For the full schedule and more information, click here.
