I am sure it is true for you as it is for me that I often read things in the Bible that I've read hundreds of times before, but somehow never saw, or it never registered.
God knows how to reserve the best for the last.
I was reading in the Gospel of Mark and here is what I ran across:
Mark 4:33-34
33 With many similar parables Jesus spoke the Word to them, as much as they could understand. 34 He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when He was alone with His own disciples, He explained everything.
NIV
I don't know about you, but I need to have the Holy Spirit explain everything to me. Sometimes He does that as I read and study the Bible. Other times the Lord uses preachers and teachers to open my mind and heart to the truth. These are days when people are turning to television to hear the Gospel who have not been interested before. When trouble comes people often tend to turn to God and that is our prayer that millions of people will turn their hearts toward God and fear Him.
For three weeks I have been quarantined in my home. I have not gone anywhere. I am supposed to see my family doctor this week, but she doesn't want me to come out yet, and asked me to reschedule for later in April.
I have been reminded of what Paul wrote to the Spirit-empowered believers in Colossae:
Col 3:14-17
14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
NKJV
And, then, in the Book of Jude:
Jude 20
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
KJV
Once more . . .
1 Corinthians 14:13
13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
KJV
I share these Scriptures to let you know that God has shown me that I have neglected this gift in my life of praying in the Spirit or praying in tongues in my devotional life. When we pray in tongues we are not praying to man, but to God.
Whatever I do in word or deed, I want to do it all to the glory of God.
I am sure you do as well.
