I must be honest with you. I slept in on Sunday morning. I had failed to tell Greg and Melvine to wake me up if I were still asleep. So, I continued to sleep beyond the time I needed to get up, take a shower, shave, eat breakfast, give Melvine her medications, take our vital signs, etc.
However, we were tuned to TBN and saw some good preaching which were a blessing to us. However, it does not replace the experience of going to church to worship with the people of God in that setting, and to hear our pastor preach.
I am told that our Children's Church and Community Pastor, Matthew Smith and his dear wife, Danielle, took it upon themselves to go to the altar during prayer time to have Pastor Terry Kesling anoint them with oil and pray for the healing of Melvine and me. When I heard the news, I sensed the anointing of the Holy Spirit come upon me in witness to their gesture of faith.
These two young leaders in our church are maturing in the things of the Spirit and the Word of God, and they are emerging as a new bred of leaders in our church and conference. Matt and Joel Osteen are look-a-likes. I know, I am not to compare anyone with someone else. Joel Osteen has his anointing and public speaking ministry that God has given him.
Matt Smith has an anointing that God has given him and his ministry will be and is different. What God is doing in their lives is beautiful to behold. God has given them a precious boy, Levi. I think he is about 4 years old. He is energetic, intelligent, and quite a little man. He loves his father and mother, and is obedient to them.
Together, Matt and Danielle Smith are making an impact on our community and church. They are encouraging other young men and women to come to our church and get involved in the church.
Melvine has been hurting daily in her stomach. I have had to give her pain pills to get ahead of the pain.
Today, Monday, August 19, Melvine will see her oncologist, Jane Huang, MD to get the report of the latest CAT Scan that was done last Wednesday, 14 August. Bonnie Bender will be meeting us there and sit in when we talk with Dr. Huang. Bonnie is a great help to us in understanding medical terms and what Dr. Haung tells us. Of course, I will request a printed statement of the CAT Scan. I like to see things in print.
Melvine and I prayed about the pain in Melvine's stomach today on Sunday. We are looking to Jesus for His healing.
Melvine is getting ready to go to bed as I finish up Monday's edition of Hugh's News.
By the way, we were privileged to attend the 90th Birthday Luncheon for Pastor Phillip Hart's 90th birthday in the fellowship hall in the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church on Saturday. It was a joy to see him, his extended family, and many friends we have known over the years, especially a lot of people who were members of the Flatwoods Pentecostal Holiness Church. Melvine and I were blessed to have traveled there on many occasions for special events, and homecomings. Colonel Charles Dixon, USA Retired and Deceased, was my military buddy.
We saw Greta Campbell and Patsy Welch. They both looked beautiful. Greta had on a new outfit that was blue and green. We have loved their ministry over many years when she had the Greta Campbell Trio and later was on television with Nite Line in Greenville, SC. We went on a Holy Land trip with them and Phillip and Inez Hart a few years ago. We learned that Brother Phillip Hart is filling the pulpit at Goldmine P. H. Church for his brother, Paul, whose wife has been sick. What a testimony. I salute Phillip Hart.
We saw and talked with Keith and Sue Hearn and Dr. Richard and Maxine Waters, former president of Holmes Bible College. His many years of service there at Holmes under difficult circumstances beyond his own saved the college. Richard has that quality of character--persevering faith. He stayed the course when all about him looked dark and disappointing. He was keenly aware that he was there by divine appointment, and that knowledge coupled with the faith God gave him stability and courage through those trying years.

May I leave you with a blessing that was written by the late Billy Graham:
"May your troubles be less, your blessings more; and may nothing but
joy, peace, and happiness come to your door. Life without God is like
an unsharpened pencil: it has no point." (Billy Graham)
