I I received word early Saturday from a reliable news source about two people known to many of my readers who will remember their ministry and work for the Kingdom of God, and and the IPHC.
They are the Rev. Dr. and Mrs. James (Theda) Pennington who now reside in Oklahoma City.
The word is that James Pennington has been diagnosed with stage 5 leukemia. I understand he is under hospice care. His wife, Theda, is on dialysis. At this writing I do not have the particulars.
Hopefully, my readers in Oklahoma or California may know. I need help getting more information.
I met James and Theda Pennington when I was president of Southwestern College, now renamed Southwestern Christian University. James as an excellent preacher, administrator, and a faithful and loyal servant of the Lord. He was the administrative assistant to the General Superintendent, J. Floyd Williams. Theda worked at Southwestern College in administration, namely in the computer-data office. I remember Theda as a dedicated and radiate Christian lady with the manifold graces of a life of holiness.
After James and Theda, left Oklahoma City, they moved back to California, and pastored the North Hollywood Pentecostal Holiness Church and subsequently was elected superintendent of that California Conference.
Later, God opened a door for him to be the pastor of a church in New York City, while living in New Jersey. He and I kept in touch with each other and he was a subscriber to Hugh's News. He loved this news service and inspirational newsletter so much that he contributed $100 a month to Hugh's News, Inc. He often sent me manuscripts of his sermons, and I always enjoyed his messages. I always gained new insights into the Word of God from reading his sermons. As I recall, I published some of James Pennington's sermons in Hugh's News.
I would like for you to join with Melvine and me in praying for James and Theda Pennington. I pray that James will die in peace and with an assurance that God is present in his suffering. Theda needs our prayers for her healing. I love them both, and I know our God will do what is best for them. They have served well and we stand to salute them for their ministry and work.
