Eagles Knock Off No. 13 Texas Wesleyan 62-60
BETHANY, OK– Southwestern Christian University knocked off nationally-ranked Texas Wesleyan 62-60 Saturday at Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
The Eagles’ win over the 13th-ranked Rams was their second win over a ranked opponent this week. SCU upset No. 18 Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) 85-56 Thursday.
The win moved SCU to 5-7 overall and 2-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Sophomore guard Shawn Scott paced the Eagle attack with 18 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Willie Harper provided 13 points off the bench, and Marvin White scored 11 points.
Gabi Laurent corralled a team-high 12 rebounds, while James Still finished the game with nine rebounds, eight points, three blocks, two assists and two steals.
The Eagles outscored Texas Wesleyan 32-28 in the paint and scored 20 fast break points on the night.
The Eagles will return to action against Central Christian (Kan.) Tuesday, Jan. 12, in McPherson, Kansas.
