MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma--Southwestern Christian University completed the three-game sweep of Bacone, winning 5-1 Saturday at Warrior Field.
Starting pitcher Kyle Vail allowed just one run on two hits and struck out 12 in eight innings against Bacone. The win moved the Eagles to 36-7 overall and 16-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Justin Braziel doubled and drove in a run in the top of the third inning to give the Eagles a one-run lead.
After Bacone tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Eagles scored three runs in the seventh and regained the lead.
A.J. Leingang scored on an error, Michael Lowe drew a bases-loaded walk and Braziel scored on a wild pitch to make the score 4-1.
Andrew Walker scored on an error in the top of the ninth and stretched the SCU lead to 5-1.
Jesus Ambriz struck out two in a scoreless bottom of the ninth and handed SCU its 13th consecutive win.
SCU will return to action against Hillsdale Baptist at 1 p.m. April 18 in Moore, Okla.
