Nothing compares to the manifest presence of God when we worship with other Christians. It has been described as the sweet presence of God when no one wants to leave and we linger to enjoy it as long as we desire. We were thrilled to have Gregory H. Morgan to join us by playing the piano in the absence of Sara Lynn Holbert who was attending a funeral. Greg had played piano for Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church for 3 years. Nurse Nancy Luke, a member of the church came to worship with us because she read about it in Hugh's News to which she subscribes. She was the school nurse at Statham Elementary where our Stephanie taught for 21 years before died of bone cancer. Greg sang a solo, "People Need the Lord." The resident members love it. Pastor Wayne Butler sang a solo, "I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ." Wayne is a masterful story teller. His story of the Gospel of the Golf Lesson is a true story that no one will forget as it illustrates the grace of God. Our attendance was 11. We thank God for each one who came. Here is the benediction I gave: Numbers 6:22-27 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, 24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. 27 And they shall put My Name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. KJV We are blessed to have Peter Wood as our Bible teacher on Monday afternoons at 1:30 p.m. A week ago he completed a study of the Book of Daniel. It is apparent to me that Jesus has given him the gift of teacher.
Today, Monday, April 22, Peter presented an introduction to Church History. He told us it will take a year for this study. He wants us to understand the importance of church and affirn the significant contribution of the early church to the present church. We had 14 people present. Peter Wood encouraged us to talk it up and invite other residents at Mulberry Grove Senior Living to come next week. The Jews Are Celebrating Passover Author: Gordon Robertson, CBN Passover is a Jewish festival that lasts for eight days—in 2024, it begins at sundown on Monday, April 22, and ends on April 30. Passover celebrates God’s mighty power, protection, and provision that freed the Israelites from Egyptian captivity. God gave specific instructions to His people on how to celebrate and remember their deliverance from slavery. To read the full account of God’s instruction, please read Exodus 12. Exodus 12:14 says, “This is a day to remember. Each year, from generation to generation, you must celebrate it as a special festival to the Lord. This is a law for all time.” In verse 17, God says, “Celebrate this Festival of Unleavened Bread, for it will remind you that I brought your forces out of the land of Egypt on this very day. This festival will be a permanent law for you; celebrate this day from generation to generation.” Today, Passover is celebrated with a special meal called a Seder, which includes unleavened bread and other symbolic foods intended for the Jewish people to remember specific parts of the exodus and God’s deliverance. When God first gave this command to His people to celebrate Passover (Festival of Unleavened Bread), they were still in Egypt in captivity (see Exodus 12:1); God instructed Moses and Aaron to have the people take a spotless lamb and mark their doorposts with its blood (v. 7). Then the Lord said, “On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every firstborn son and firstborn male animal in the land of Egypt. I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt, for I am the Lord! But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 12:12-13) It’s interesting to note that in Exodus 12, when God gave specific instructions to His people on how to celebrate and remember their deliverance from slavery, they had yet to be set free! What a step of faith His people took by following His directive, trusting that God would do exactly what He said He would! From generation to generation—including today—the Jewish people still celebrate God’s faithfulness with the Passover Feast. As we just celebrated Easter, we are reminded that as a Jewish man, Jesus celebrated the Passover festival with His disciples the night He was betrayed (The Last Supper). Jesus knew, but His disciples did not understand, that He was going to be the Passover Lamb that year and for all time. In God’s great wisdom and plan, God chose that Passover to carry out His great plan for our salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only true sacrificial Passover lamb for all of God’s people. He was led to the slaughter (Isaiah 53:7), dying on our behalf (Romans 5:8-9), serving as the one-time-for-all-time sacrifice—allowing us to be in true community and relationship with our Father God! We encourage you to spend time in prayer, meditating on the significance of the Passover for God’s people in Egypt and to us today. Thank Jesus for all that He’s done for us—serving as the perfect Passover Lamb for all of His people! The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 [Editor's comment: This scholarly account of Passover was sent to me via by Gordon Robertson, president of CBN. I felt you needed to read it. Now is the time for us to review this historic event in the miracle God gave to His chosen people, the Jewish people. Now is the time for us to stand with Israel with our prayers and financial gifts. Rick Haug DRUSA National Coordinator 405-833-3163 Facing Death Without Fear Author: Anne Graham Lotz "We, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells" (2 Peter 3:13, NKJV). For many years I have traveled all over the world in response to invitations to give out God’s Word. There have been times, such as my first visit to India, when I have started out by climbing onto the plane with my stomach churning, my knees knocking, and my heart fibrillating – terrified because I was not sure where I was going, or who would meet me at the journey’s end. But what a difference there has been in my attitude when I have had the opportunity for a second visit to that same place. I have left home with peace in my heart because I knew where I was going and who would meet me at the journey’s end. In the same way, the prospect of death can fill you and me with terror and dread – unless we know where we are going. Knowing as much as we can about our final destination, and Who will meet us at the end of life’s journey, takes the fear out of getting there. Psalm 71:17-18 Knowing God personally from youth to old age.
17 Since my youth, O God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare Your marvelous deeds. 18 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come. NIV "Next," the conference emcee announced, "we have the chief of the Minnesota State Patrol, Roger Ledding, who is here with his lovely wife, Beverly."
The chief took his place at the lectern. "I'm a little nervous," he began, "getting up before this distinguished audience and speaking today. But not nearly as nervous as I will be tonight when I must go home with my wife, Audrey, and explain Beverly to her!" An Appeal to Dr. Hugh Morgan from Bishop Randell Drake to Assist Southwestern Christian University4/20/2024 An Appeal to Dr. Hugh Morgan from Bishop Randell Drake to Assist Southwestern Christian University. Dear Dr. Morgan, Greetings. I hope this email finds you feeling better and doing well. Michelle and I have been praying for you. We appreciate you and all you have done and do to bless the IPHC and SCU. I have an urgent favor to ask of you. As you know, I am Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Southwestern Christian University. We have been working on our financial situation for some time. We are needing a miracle to complete the school year and continue forward as a university. I know that SCU is dear to your heart. I am attaching a letter we are sending out to alumni and friends requesting their immediate financial assistance. If you could and would include my letter in Hugh's News over the next few days, I would deeply appreciate it. +++++ I am highly honored to be asked by Bishop Randell Drake to promote this vital fund raising campaign to keep Southwestern Christian University alive during the summer months. I understand this challenge having served as the third president of Southwestern. I will give according to the ability God has given me. I have known Randell Drake since he graduated from high school and I put a lot of effort and time to help recruit him to be a student for Southwestern. In the next article below this one you will read Bishop Drake's letter to alumni and friends of Southwestern Christian University to participate in a financial mircle. I trust you will give and see what God will do. God gives to us so that we can give to others. I am participating and have sent a check for the amount God impressed me to give. I feel good about it. When you give to Southwestern you will be blessed by God and convinced you have done His will. Joy will feel your heart. When giving to Southwestern Christian University you are investing in the Kingdom of God. Let not your heart be afraid and may God give you His peace!] A Worship Service Resumes Today Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Mulberry Grove Senior Living. Pastor Wayne Butler and Pastor Hugh Morgan will conduct a worship service today Sunday, April 21, at 3 PM. June Butler, Wayne's wife, serves as our church administer. Sara Lynn Holbert has to attend a funeral service this afternoon, and will not be available be present to play the piano. Therefore, June Butler immediately went to work to fill that need to have a replacement to play the piano for Sunday's worship service. She contacted Greg Morgan and Jeanette Phillips who had already made arrangements to take Greg to worship at Christian Life Worship Center in Athens, Georgia, and then, to have lunch. Greg has agreed to play piano and Jeanette will provide the transportation. He is happy to serve the Lord once again with his father and Pastor Wayne Butler. Wayne Butler will be preaching and Hugh Morgan will be conducting the litany of worship. Waynes sermon is entitled, "The Gospel in a Golf Lesson." Wayne will lead the singing and sing a solo. Greg will sing a solo, too, "People Need The Lord." We ask for your prayers that God's manifest presence will be experienced and for those who need to be saved will respond to the invitation Pastor Wayne Butler will give. Does Your Local Church Encourage You To Give To Missions For Israel? Author: Hugh H. Morgan I am grateful to God, our pastor, and missions direction, for giving us the opportunity as a congregation to give monthly to Missions for Israel. It has been validated that churches who give to Israel are blessed and individuals or families are blessed who give to Missions for Israel. Let the word go out to increase the number of churches to get on board to support Israel Missions giving. May God bless you as you join the number of churches who have caught the vision. The Bible says Christians are to pray for the nation of Israel. Psalms 122:6 says, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.” His promise in Genesis 12:3 says, “I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” I am praying daily for the peace of Jerusalem and Nation of Israel. I am praying for the leadership of Israel that God will grant them wisdom, unity, and courage in the decisions required to keep them safe from the threat to their existence as a nation. The Bible reveals that Michael is the Archangel assigned by God to protect Israel. Here is the reference: "At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise" (Dan. 12:1, NIV). I encourage you to join with other believers in praying for Israel. Pray for the safety of the families who are facing danger at the hands of their enemy and the enemy of God. Pray for the leadership of Israel, that God will grant them His wisdom in protecting their nation and people. Kangaroo Court Prosecution of President Trump in the ‘Hush Money’ Trial Author: Tom Fitton, Judicial Watch It will be nearly impossible for President Trump to receive a fair trial in a courtroom run by biased, anti-Trump Democratic Party politicians. The kangaroo court proceedings in the Manhattan Supreme Court mark the first-ever criminal trial of a U.S. president. It will go down in infamy. This is a dangerous attack on the rule of law and a brazen attempt to rig the 2024 elections for President Biden and Democrats. Judicial Watch denounces Alvin Bragg’s corrupt attempt to make former president Donald Trump a political prisoner. Trump committed no crimes, and this is a prosecution about nothing. These and other Democratic Party political prosecutions of Trump are an abomination under law and are destabilizing to our nation. We will continue to expose in court the truth about these attacks on the rule of law, free and fair elections, and the U.S. Constitution. He Wants to Be Your Life Author: Anne Graham Lotz "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" (1 Corinthians 2:9, NIV). One of the pictures in John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress is of a man bending double from his waist, sorting through a can of garbage, carefully extracting the little bits of tinsel he finds there. Behind him is standing an angel who is offering him a solid gold crown studded with precious jewels, but the man is so engrossed in the garbage he never notices the angel. When we get to heaven, will you and I be ashamed of our preoccupation with “garbage” in this life – garbage that prevented us from dying to our desire for it, turning around, leaving it all behind, and reaching out for what God wanted to give us? Why is it that we seem to cling so tightly to what we want, and in the process lose what God wants us to have? God wants us to have power and blessing and glory. But you don’t obtain it by adding Jesus to your life-He has to be your life! Blessings, Anne Graham Lotz Copyright © 2024 Anne Graham Lotz (AnGeL Ministries) Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.
