Hugh,
Thank you for the report concerning the passing of Rev. Raymond Carr. Rev. Carr and his wife Sue served the Franklin Springs PHC when the brick building was constructed. The current sanctuary was added to the original construction during the pastorate of Rev. John Swails.
Rev. Carr was the Georgia Conference (LifePoint Ministries) Treasurer for many years while my father was the IPHC General Treasurer. My Dad often spoke highly of Rev. Carr as a man of great wisdom and gentleness.
Often during the years Susan and I served at the Franklin Springs PHC the Carr’s were part of our congregation. They were both so supportive of us and always an encouragement.
In particular, in the past couple of years Raymond stood with Sue as she and the entire Carr family helped to save the King House for the IPHC. This denomination will always owe them a great debt of gratitude for their love of the King family, recognition of the importance of the house for IPHC history, and their tireless effort of securing the numerous historical documents and artifacts in the house.
Raymond Carr was the kind of faithful servant of Jesus Christ that any younger IPHC minister should emulate.
Sincerely,
Doug Beacham
IPHC General Superintendent
