Official word has reached Hugh's News that my good friend, the Rev. Mr. Larry Jones of the South Carolina Conference has had a mild heart attack. He is known as "The Little Bishop" of the great South Carolina Conference.
On Thursday Bishop Leon O. Stewart, former General Superintendent of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, informed me that Larry was having open heart surgery in a hospital in Columbia, SC, to replace three arteries that had significant blockages. Larry had asked Bishop Stewart to call me to publish this prayer request in Hugh's News.
As I recall Larry Jones is the pastor of St. Paul's Pentecostal Holiness Church in Swansea, SC. He is a gifted writer and he is noted for writing and compiling the memoirs of the South Carolina Conference. I have been to Lake City, SC, many times for their annual conferences and he always does a superb job in honoring those who have died.
Larry Jones is a man of faith, filled with the Holy Spirit, and loved by many people. He has always been gracious to me.
Larry and Linda, his lovely wife, have been and continue to be a blessing to many people. Larry has been the pastor of St.. Paul's Church for many years. What a life and legacy God has allowed him to have.
Let us lift up our brother in Christ in prayer and ask God to restore him to health, heal his body, and extend his life for many years to come. Let us pray for Linda, too, that God will give her additional strength and grace doing these days of anxiety and stress. I pray that she will be victorious.
