Pauline Hoyle Tate, 90, of Elon passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, January 20, 2018. She died at home following a six-year battle with kidney and heart disease.
Born in Vance County, NC, she moved to Burlington with her family when she was 16 and graduated high school from Emmanuel Academy in Georgia and Emmanuel College in Georgia. Mrs. Tate was retired from a lengthy career at Western Electric in Burlington. She was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables, and she enjoyed sewing and cooking for others, the hallmarks of her gift of hospitality. She loved to travel across the United States and was proud to have visited many of our nation’s national parks with her travel buddies. She was generous with her home, her hospitality, and her time, and she had a quick and witty sense of humor. She loved music, her family, and her Lord.
Mrs. Tate was a long-time member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church when it was on Harris Street in Burlington, and more recently a member of People’s Memorial Church in Elon.
She is survived by her son Randy Tate of Burlington and his wife Elizabeth, grandchildren Eliana and Christopher, sisters Catherine H. Michael of Burlington, Bertha H. Mullins (Bill) of Cincinnati, OH, and brothers Beacham H. Hoyle (Nancy) of Burlington and Rev. Bobby A. Hoyle (Kathryn) of Virginia Beach, VA and 48 nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt “Ninky.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Faulkner Hoyle and Ernest Edward Hoyle and her husband Maurice M. Tate. She was also preceded in death by siblings Edward A. “Red” Hoyle, Rev. Earl T. Hoyle, Rev. Robert B. Hoyle, R. Dorthell “Dot” Robinson, Vernon G. Hoyle, Ernest W. Hoyle, M. Ruth Loy Qualls, Alfred M. Hoyle, Sr., her twin brother Paul Hoyle, and Henry T. Hoyle.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 2:00 at Trinity Worship Center. Burial will follow the service in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 before the service at Trinity Worship Center.
