It is indeed a great honor and a distinct privilege to be able to introduce you to our new pastor at Christian Life Worship Center (formerly Tarkenton Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church) in Athens, GA. Our church is located at 125 Kathwood Drive, Athens, Georgia 30607.
This Sunday, November 15, 2015, Bishop Tim Lamb, our Superintendent of the Georgia Conference (LifePoint Ministries), will officially install the Rev. Mr. Brad Cooper as our new pastor. This is a high moment and a very important day in the life and family of our new pastor, as well as our congregation. We have looked forward with eager anticipation for this day to arrive. We believe that Brad Cooper is God's appointed and ordained man to be our pastor, preacher, and shepherd of the sheep.
This will be a big day for Brad and Kiki, his beautiful and charming wife, and their beautiful and bright children, Karis (13), Micah (11), Joshua (5), and Caleb (2 years old in December). We, as a congregation, want to do all we can to make them feel welcome. It is our prayer that our love for them will be demonstrated in many ways.
Let me urge you, if you are not committed to another local church to come and join with us, grow with us, and win the City of Athens for Christ and His Kingdom.
Following our morning worship service which begins at 11 o'clock, we will have what we call dinner-on-the-grounds. We have a newly renovated fellowship hall, now called "Stephanie's Place," in loving memory of Stephanie Ellen Morgan whose life and legacy as a teacher and a musician is honored. You are invited to come and worship with us, and to dine and have fellowship by the breaking of bread together.
Brad and Kiki have a most interesting background. Brad grew up in Midland, Michigan, and moved to New England to attend high school and then college. Brad graduated from Boston College in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. While at Boston College, Brad met Kiki, a fellow student, and later were married in 1995. Kiki is also a graduate of Boston College with a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology. The admissions requirements for Boston College are as strict as those of Harvard University. In fact, Boston College is often referred to as the Harvard of Catholic schools. He has also done post graduate studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in the Master of Divinity degree program.
Brad and Kiki have been involved in campus ministry at Boston College. They have a vision not only to reach the city of Athens, and the surrounding counties, but a vision for a dynamic ministry to the students at the University of Georgia and the other colleges located in this center for higher education.
Brad is an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. His ministerial experience had been varied. He has been involved in ministries and churches in Boston, Sacramento, and Charleston at different seasons as a college campus pastor, a church planter, a lead pastor, and community center director before his most recent pastorate at Cornerstone Church, an independent charismatic church in Charleston, SC. In fact, on Sunday. November 1, was his final day to serve as pastor of that church.
We want you to get to know Brad, Kiki, Karis, Micah, Joshua, and Caleb as we get to know them. On behalf of our new pastor and his wife I want to invite you to be with us this coming Sunday, November 15, 2015. You will thrill to Brad's preaching. He is a gifted communicator and preaches the Bible and makes practical applications to the truth God has for each of us and our families. He loves people and is warm, friendly and outgoing. He is gentle and kind, and already has shown us a deep compassion for the lost.
Now, let me share a few photos I have received from Brad and Kiki:
