North India Hurricane Disaster
Author: James Eby
In April a major cyclone (hurricane) hit north India with vengeance. One of Mission Catalyst’s key workers in Assam state operates an orphanage, school, and missionary training center that was devastated by the storm. Fortunately, none of the 35 children or the several adults who live in the orphanage were injured and no workers were in the training center at the time, but the building received major structural damage from both the wind and water (pictures below). All school and training operations were halted immediately due to the destruction. Through the generous support of Mission Catalyst donors, especially The Ark Church in Conroe, TX, we were able to send the money to make all repairs and get the orphanage, school, and missionary training center back in operation. All repairs are now completed. To God be the glory.

New Trainers in the Unreached World
In recent months Mission Catalyst leadership has trained new National Master Trainers in the countries of Bangladesh, North India, and Pakistan. These new Master Trainers are now effectively training national (indigenous) pastors, evangelists, and missionary church planters in their countries to get the Gospel to those who have not heard. (Note: there are still approximately three billion people who have yet to hear the Gospel for even the first time). We continue to bring hope to people who are hopelessly lost without Christ. These are three of the most unreached countries in the entire world. This brings the total number of MCI National Master Trainers working around the world to 43. To God be the glory!
“Never pity missionaries; envy them.
They are where the real actions is where life and death, sin and grace, Heaven and Hell converge.”
- Robert C. Shannon
[Editor's Comment: Jim and Peggy Eby are our dear friends. Melvine and I met them in Oklahoma City when Jim was the director of Lifeliners and Sunday School. We visited them when they were in London heading up our international missions school there. They and their children have eaten at our home in Oklahoma City when I was president of Southwestern College, now Southwestern Christian University. Jim needed classrooms for his discipleship class. I was able to provide that for him and his students. They did some work for the college on the campus with building and grounds clean up. One of the students was Rich Hurst, who served an assistant to one of our General Superintendents, and later, he worked in Washington, D.C., on highly classified projects. During a surgical procedure he died. What a loss. I used to dine with Rick whenever I was in D.C. He took me to some outstanding restaurants. He enjoyed the finer things of life and living. He was a genuine Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ.
