Nelle Goodman will be 90 years old on November 22
Author: Hugh H. Morgan
It gives me a great deal of pleasure to announce to you that Nelle Goodman will be 90 years old on November 22.
I have known Nelle for many years. She was born in Barnesville, Georgia. She was a Burnette, her father a farmer and owner of a large grocery store called Burnette's Grocery. He was a staunch supporter of Emmanuel College. His name was Harvey D. Burnette, Sr.; wife, Myrtle. Nelle married Hal Goodman on April 26, 1953, and were married for 43 years at the time of Hal's death. Hal was an excellent pastor and served as treasurer of the Alabama Conference (Alpha Conference today) for many years. He was a good bass singer and sang in the River Springs Quartet that sang the song, Rev. I. H. Presley wrote, "River Springs," and in the camp meeting choir. Of course, Nelle sang in the choir, too.
God blessed Hal and Nelle with four children: Rhetta Goodman, Ronald David Goodman (dec'd Jan. 6, 2018), Hal Timothy "Tim" Goodman, Jr.; Julie Burnette Goodman (dec'd Mar. 9, 2009).
Nelle served as Women's Auxiliary Board Member, Vice-President, and President in the Alabama Conference. She became a licensed minister of the Gospel in the Alabama Conference when Hal died.
