Late last week, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Membership Committee announced the approval of Emmanuel College to enter its third and final year of the Division II membership process.
During the third provisional year, the NCAA will send representatives to Emmanuel’s campus to complete what they refer to as the Compliance Blueprint. During this two-day visit they will meet with various departments to review policy and procedures and will meet with students, staff, and administrators.
Since entering NCAA DII membership consideration, Emmanuel College has made massive advancements in the athletic department in order to meet the NCAA DII membership requirements. These advancements include new and upgraded facilities, additional administrative and support staff, and increases in scholarships. The number of athletic teams has also grown from eight to twenty-eight in the last five years.
Emmanuel Athletic Director, Nate Moorman, was thrilled when he learned the news, knowing that being able to continue in the membership process meant that Emmanuel was one step closer to NCAA membership.
“It’s huge! NCAA is the largest brand globally in athletics,” Moorman said. “It gives our student athletes, coaches, alumni, and community members something to be proud of. The Division II philosophy and values align extremely well with the philosophy and core values of Emmanuel College and its athletic department. To be able to be a part of a NCAA competition as well as such a mission-driven association is going to be great.”
