Melvine and I slept through Greg's getting ready early in the morning to take a shower and shave, eat breakfast and many other things he apparently does to get ready to drive to Thomson, GA, about 1 hour 43 minutes.
He always leaves his room clean, his bed made and everything put away out of sight.
Greg called after he got there and we are grateful he had a safe trip to his school.
What a challenge he has to teach music in a middle school. He teaches, general music education, keyboard, an ensemble of a dozen or more students, and a choral group of around 40.
It is difficult for Greg because he feels deeply that he should be here with us helping Melvine and me. However, God has placed him there for this year to be a blessing to those students, their parents, school and community.
Melvine felt tired but was energetic and wanted to do more today. In fact, she put in a medium size load of colored clothes in the washing machine. I took her vital signs and recorded them accordingly.
We ate a good breakfast, and got ready for the day of activities.
Melvine has a bad cough and I think it has gone into her chest. I called our family doctor's office but never got a call back about what she would do for Melvine.
We are having to make sure that our prescriptions are sent to Express Scripts for filling the medications. This is a mail order pharmacy service that saves us lots of money and is a vital part of my Air Force retirement.
We had devotions together using Charles R. Swindoll's devotional book for couples. Today, we read about forgiveness and bitterness. We discussed it, I shared again how God had dealt with me about my unforgiveness for a man who had harmed me with a resultant spirit of bitterness I allowed to attack my heart. God gave me the gracious ability to repent, confess the sin, and I was healed of the bitterness.
When a married couple prays together there is a special intimacy that occurs that blesses both the man and his wife. I am grateful that Melvine and I continued to pray together and for each other over 56 years of marriage.
We are blessed to have a good church home with many friends who love and care for us.
Today, I will take Melvine to see her cardiologist. Friday, she will have her fifth round of chemotherapy.
Well, it's time for me to go to bed. I am tired and sleepy. However, I want to spend some time reading the Bible and praying before I retire for the night.
In closing, Melvine loves you all and is so thankful for the many get-well cards you have sent her. Please keep on writing and sending them.
