Jesus made it clear that it is our relationship with Him that counts. Melvine quotes from the Book of Ephesians by saying, "I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. I draw my strength from Him, that strength which His boundless might provides" (Ephesians 6:10).
In the Gospel of John Jesus said:
John 15:1-8
15 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the Word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me.
5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8 This is to My Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples.

Every day Melvine is gaining new strength. She is becoming more active in the affairs of the family. We are grateful for what God is doing in the healing process Melvine is now experiencing.
Tonight, Bonnie Bender sent her daughter, Sunshine, to our home with our supper. We had to preheat the oven, and set the timer for the cooking of the dinner meal Bonnie prepared. In addition to the slices of potatoes, diced ham, other veggies with special ingredients and topped off with a blend of various shredded cheese, she prepared a lovely tomato and onion salad. Melvine had to help me with the oven and the way to set the timer on baking. Greg had gone to Atlanta to choir rehearsal for the Gwinett County Choral Group with the Gwinett Symphony Orchestra. I had it ready for Greg when he got home. He enjoyed it like Melvine and I did.
We are all excited about going to Emmanuel College on Saturday for the Alumni Luncheon. We are eager to see our friends and meet new people.
We are grateful for the lasting friendships we have with so many of our friends through the years. This is a rare opportunity to attend the Centennial Homecoming. I look forward to seeing members of my class.
It is our hope that we can see you there at Emmanuel College.
