I received this touching letter today, Monday, July 13, from the Director of Hospice Services for St. Mary's in Athens, GA.
Hospice Services, St. Mary's, Athens, GA
It has not been six months follow the loss of your loved one. It is perfectly all right and completely normal for you to be actively grieving six months after a loss. If you experience is anything like that of many others who have lost a loved one, you may be feeling a lot of pressure to "get over it" and "move on" with your life.
For many people, half a year is plenty of time to "heal," but when you've lost someone you love, six months can feel like no time at all. Don't let yourself feel pressured or rushed. Your journey through grief is uniquely yours. You will grieve in your own way, in your own time. Take all the time you need to grieve. While hospice services ended months ago, bereavement support through hospice is available to you. Please call should you desire help with the grief and loss you may feel. I can be reached at __________ to get you in touch with your Bereavement Coordinator.
Sincerely,
Sandra Stephenson, RN, BSN, COS-C
