On Friday morning, January 25, Melvine and I got up at 6 a. m., checked our vital signs,
ate a light breakfast, took our medications, bathed, dressed, etc. and arrived a 7:45 a. m.
sat the Cancer Clinic.
I had to scrape my windshield before leaving home.
Bonnie Patch Bender was there when we arrived, had the wheel chair on the porch. She was inside where it was warm. She came our to get Melvine and helped her get into the wheelchair.
I had popped the trunk lid, and pulled our my walker.
I have gout in my left hand and in my fingers. It makes every thing much more difficult for me, even typing. I have been unable to use all my fingers. So, I was not able to do a Hugh's News for Saturday. However, I have medication to take orally, and therapeutic cream to relieve the pain and swelling.
Today, Friday, we saw Anna McFather, one of two PA's to Dr. Jane Huang, oncologist. We really like her.
Melvine has a bad cough which I am treating with medical advice from our family doctor, Alice Edwards, MD.
When Greg was home last weekend he noticed a tremor in Melvine's right arm and hand. At times, Melvine becomes disorientated and confused. Her memory is not good at times, but that is all temporary. Her thoughts are somewhat hard for her to put into words. Here again, this problem is temporary.
Anna checked Melvine's heart and deep breathing, and she is concerned about that as we are. Dr. Huang has ordered a brain scan, and chest x-rays for Monday at St. Mary's Hospital. Bonnie Bender is going to take her to the hospital to get this done.
I have an appointment with Dr. Gary Walton on Monday, January 28, at 10:45. He is a urologist. He did prostate surgery on me a year and 5 months ago, and today I am worse. I am disappointed. I don't have time to explain, and I am not sure it is wise for me to attempt to do so.
Greg got home safely from Thomson, GA on Friday afternoon. He stopped by Rafferty's get our supper. He stops on the east side of Athens near Wal-Mart and calls in our order and it is ready when he arrives.
We had a wonderful day on Saturday, January 26. I helped Melvine take a shower. It is my honor to help Melvine in any way she has a need. I am learning more about the joy of giving to my darling wife of more than 58 years.
We hope to attend Sunday school and church on Sunday. We are members of Christian Life Worship Center in Athens. We are blessed to have a loving and caring congregation, a good pastor and his wife, and people we dearly love.
We wish you a blessed Sunday.
