Melvine stayed home today when Greg and I went to church to attend the Men's Ministries Breakfast and hear Pastor Jace Milligan speak on "Mighty Men of God."
Greg and I and all the men enjoyed hearing Jace Milligan's motivational speech based on the life and testimony of Gideon in the Book of Judges. He made this story come alive and applied it to each of us as men of valor and members of the church.
Melvine enjoys watching the cooking shows on television. I like them too. I am amazed at how the women who do these shows can talk while preparing the meal using a recipe. I can't talk and chew bubble gum.
I spent some time talking with Melvine when I got home. I worked with Melvine and Greg in preparing a grocery list for Greg to get for us. He is a good shopper and does so with care and purpose.
I had some administrative work to do in my office, and I spent time writing letters and writing checks.
I called several friends and talked with them.
I went to bed and slept for several hours in the afternoon. Now, I fully understand why my parents liked to take naps in the afternoon. I have joined that class of afternoon nappers and I enjoy it, too.
Melvine prepared baked pork chops, mashed potatoes, English peas, sliced tomatoes raised in Green Houses, along with rolls with butter. It was a fabulous supper and Melvine has not lost her touch in cooking.
Melvine and Greg have both gone to bed. I will join Melvine in a little while.
It is supposed to be very cold in the morning with icy roads. If that happens I do not want to drive on ice. I have to walk with a walker. I try to use wisdom and avoid falling.
Whatever the case, we want to worship God of Sunday. Should we stay home we will watch TV pastors. We are blessed to have several outstanding pastors we enjoy via television.
We thank God for a comfortable and warm home, food we can have on our table, and clothes to wear. We thank Him for cars to drive and a church family that means so much to us along with a physical church plant where we enjoy worshiping God.
Have a blessed Sunday.
We love all of you.
Remember us in your prayers.
Your friend in all seasons,
Hugh
