It will be a belated birthday celebration for Claudia Strickland a loved and highly respected friend of Melvine and Joyce Hawkins.
These three ladies will rendezvous on Saturday to go out to a selected restaurant, one of Claudia's choosing, to dine and give Claudia a belated birthday gift. They have done this for years. There used to be a fourth some when our Stephanie was alive. There was Claudia, Joyce, Melvine and Stephanie.
Celebration of birthdays are so important. These events tend to bind us together and provide lasting memories of the event that brought each of us into the world. However, the second birth experience, when we are born again is a decision each of us has to make. No one can do it for you.
I have a project I want Russell Gurley to do for me. He is a master carpenter builder. He is highly intelligent and does excellent work. He stays busy in the building and remodeling business. He is scheduled to come to our home Saturday afternoon to look at the job I need him to do for me and give me a price of what the cost will be including the materials, paint, and his work. It is wonderful to know men like Russell. I have great respect for him. He is a family man and loves his wife and daughter.
Melvine has been doing much better this week. We are planning on going to Church Sunday. I long for the day when we can include Sunday school once again. We have a wonderful Sunday school class led by Lavon and Arlette Revells. They have been studying the Names of God. It is a dynamic class where we freely discuss the lesson and Lavon and Arlette help us to make a personal application in our lives.
Our pastor, Terry Kesling, is an excellent teacher. Every Wednesday evening he teaches a class in our fellowship hall, known as Stephanie's Place. He has been teaching on the manifestation gift of prophesying. Melvine and I have not been able to attend. With Greg being home now and when Melvine feels well, he can drive us. We enjoy going out to eat prior to church on Wednesdays and it is nice to eat with other friends from our church and go to the House of the Lord together.
We look forward to church on Sunday. After the morning worship service, we are to have a picnic in our fellowship hall, Stephanie's Place. At that time Pastor Terry Kesling will give us a report on the state of the church, where we have been in the two years he has been our pastor and where he envisions us going for the future. I look forward to hearing him.
If you do not have a church home and are looking for a good church, Melvine and I would like to invite you and your family to be our guests this Sunday. Sunday school starts at 10 a. m. and morning worship at 11 o'clock.
Thank you all for your prayers and best wishes for us. We praise God for what He has done and is doing in Melvine's life to heal her of stage 3 ovarian cancer. Your prayers have made the difference and God has heard all those many prayers of faith for her healing.
Your friend in all seasons,
Hugh H. Morgan
