It is difficult to evaluate Melvine's physical and psychological condition. Melvine is a complicated woman with intelligence, integrity, spiritual maturity, a knowledge of the Bible, God's Holy Word, a gifted singer, teacher and much more.
She is talking a lot more. Although at times she is confused with regard to schedule, where we are going for doctor's appointments, who is visiting us, what day is it, etc.
Although she greatly desired to go to church on Sunday, she was not prepared physically to go.
Melvine and I watched several excellent Christian television programs and heard several excellent sermons. However, that does not take the place of being present in church with the people of God, and worshiping God through singing, praise, reading the Scriptures, prayers, and the preaching by the pastor.
Sunday, our church celebrated Pastor Terry Kesling's 60th birthday with a cake, gifts, and a potluck luncheon in our fellowship hall known as Stephanie's Place.
Jeanette Phillips called and asked if we would like for her to prepare plates of food from the luncheon. We had not planned on that, and Greg had already gone to Zaxby's to get chicken finger dinners. However, we could not turn Jeanette down on the cake she had made. So, to our surprise, Joyce Hawkins volunteered to bring us the cake and visit with us. Melvine relates well to Joyce, and she entered into conversation with her. It was good for Joyce to pay us a visit. Joyce was a good friend of Stephanie's and Melvine relates to Joyce as if she were one of our daughters. Both of our daughters, Julia Frances and Stephanie Ellen are in heaven.
Greg did a lot of work for us today. He swept off the back patio, moved the gas grill and chairs, and watered it down with a hose. It really looks good. He had to get some extra things at Walmart and CVS. He made sure my gas tank was filled on my car. What a blessing that is. He will leave early Monday morning, today, to drive back to Thomson, GA to teach music.
Our pastor, Terry Kesling and his wife, Pam, came to visit us. Pam brought us some food we can heat and eat as needed. We enjoyed their visit. As they were leaving Pastor Terry prayed for all of us. We are thankful for his prayers and his visit.
Melvine and I have to get up early today, Monday, to go to Athens, to see a neurologist. We don't know him. Our appointment is at 9:30 a.m., far too early for Melvine and me. Why is it that we have to get up and get dressed so early in the morning. Surely doctor's can see patients in early or late afternoon. I will ask why when we meet the referred neurologist. His office is on Baxter Street not far from the University of Georgia and St. Mary's Hospital.
Bonnie Bender, our faithful friend and a retired LPN, will go with us.
I wish you all a blessed day.
This will be a good week. Melvine has her third MRI on Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital, and we have an appointment with Dr. Jane Haung on Friday, include lab tests, and possibly IV's for needed fluid.
Thank you for your many get-well cards, your prayers, and best wishes.
