For the last two days, Melvine has had some difficulty in processing her thoughts and desires. God is giving me patience and compassion for her as she is not functioning like we think she should.
These kinds of things happen when you can't reach your doctor during office hours. That seems to be the new medical model and system. I am keeping a close eye on her vital signs, making sure she is drinking water and Atkins drink. Melvine like Atkins better than Ensure. This drink has the protein she needs.
I called and asked Bonnie Bender to come to our home to evaluate Melvine. She noticed the change and advised me how to take care of her. Bonnie helped Melvine to get dressed. Melvine had made an appointment to have her hair, what little she now has, to be cut. I thought Wendy, her hair dresser would shave her hair, but that was not what Melvine wanted. We are praying that her hair will come back full and curly, even black. Whether that happens or not, it really doesn't matter. I love Melvine with or without a head full of hair.
We drove by the cemetery where our Stephanie is buried. I drove up close to the granite tombstone for our family of four, but off the grass. Someone has taken on the job of providing beautiful artificial flowers for the two vases on each side of our family tombstone. We were blessed to see that. We did not linger there very long. I asked Melvine to let me know when she wanted to leave. We were both satisfied with a brief look.
We were both tired when we got home and I took off my street clothes and put on my pajamas. Greg got here at home shortly after we arrived.
Many other things happened today in our lives, e.g., Hobert Howard called to let Melvine know of a classmate of hers at Holmes Bible College who desires to be reconnected with Melvine. She is Dora Ellen Robertson Sherar. Dora was one of the pianists who played for Melvine's trio. She had visited in Melvine's home in Draper, NC, while they were students. Dora now lives in Indiana. Her husband had died, and now she is near one of her son's home. We are glad to be alive and know that God loves us and people think of us as well as pray for us. We love Jesus and desire to glorify Him in all we do.
Greg got our supper at Captain D's. Melvine wanted chili from Wendy's. Greg is flexible and will get what his mother wants to eat. I personally get tired of chili. I love fish and corn on the cob, a baked potato, and fried okra.
Thank you for your continued prayers.
I am tired and need to get ready to go to bed. Melvine has already gone to bed.
On Saturday, I need to go shopping at Belk's and get some suspenders which clicks to fasten to my belt or trousers. I need to take Melvine's car to have it cleaned up and waxed at the Bulldog Car Wash in Athens. In addition, I need to get some small boxes to organize our bills and other materials, and have a clean kitchen table. That's a tall order for a Saturday.
We look forward to going to church this Sunday.
Oh, yes, we have barbecue chicken at our church tomorrow, Saturday. I have purchased three tickets. The barbecue comes form Bar H in Royston, GA. It is good barbecue.
