It seems the older Melvine and I get the longer we tend to sleep in the mornings. I got on up, weighed on a scale in our bathroom, and took my vital signs. Melvine stayed on in bed and missed the first half of Perry Mason. She watches that television series religiously.
Immediately after our honeymoon in August 1960, we moved to Wilmore, KY, where I enrolled as a student at Asbury Theological Seminary. We lived in the furnished basement apartment of Joe and Jo Ann Fletcher. We did not have a television, but Melvine made a bold claim to watch Perry Mason with the Fletchers on Saturday night who loved to watch the show.
We had no calls from Hospice Home Care on Wednesday. I would tend to think we will be hearing from them today, Thursday.
I had asked Bonnie Bender to stay with Melvine while Greg took me to my urologist. I had two different catheters inserted, and I can tell you I was singing high tenor. The nurse did the first where she filled up my bladder with a saline solution from an IV bag. The test was done to check how much fluid my bladder would hold and if it leaked.
The second cath was done by Dr. Gary Walton. He used a much larger catheter with a light and a camera. I was able to see the whole thing on a T V monitor. Everything looked good and my bladder is in excellent condition. Dr. Walton now can help me better with my incontinence issue. Well, I hope so, and I will work hard to conquer this problem.
Today, Arlette Cape Revells is coming to stay with Melvine while Greg drives me to our family doctor. Instead of losing weight, I am gaining weight. We are so grateful for the ladies of our church who help us when I have to be away.
For the present, I have chosen not to drive my car. I will have to get someone to drive us to church. Greg plays the piano for the Presbyterian Church and cannot take us to church.
We are glad to have Greg home with us. He is a tremendous blessing to us.
I must hurry up and meet my deadline.
Please continue to remember Melvine, Greg, and me in your prayers.
