Last September Melvine was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. The doctor's gave her six months to live if she did nothing. However, Dr. Jane Huang, oncologist at Athens Cancer Center, said that Melvine had a window of opportunity for healing via chemotherapy. She said, "Melvine's cancer was Potentially Curable."
That was a good word to hold on to. Dr. Huang is a brilliant doctor. She did a three-year residency at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. I know that hospital well. I did a one-year internship in Clinical Pastoral Education at Herman Hospital in that Texas Medical Center which is a teaching hospital of the University of Texas Medical School. We love her. She is Chinese American. She is filled with joy and radiance. She is positive and believes in what she is doing to help cancer patients.
Dr. Huang is pleasantly surprised in Melvine's healing and the new look she has. Her color is radiant. Her white hair is growing back and gives her a queenly appearance of beauty. She may need to get a new wardrobe since she has lost so much weigh.
Melvine went with me to see my cardiologist today at 2. He is Dr. Clay Chappell. Believe it or not . . . I am not taking any
medication for high blood pressure. Everything was good, and I do not have to see him again for 6 months.
I had on my calendar an appointment for Melvine to see Dr. Julio Pena, a kidney doctor. That appointment had been changed and I failed to correct it, although I had the correct date for her blood work and the visit to the doctor at a later time in June. Do you make dumb mistakes like I do? Someone said that my middle name was Dummy. I don't believe I am dumb, but I do make mistakes.
When we got home Greg was already at our home which is his home too. What a joy it is to see Greg back home. He has finished everything required of him at his school. And so, he is now unemployed and will be looking for a job. We believe God has that job already prepared for him. God has opened that door and no one can close it. At this point in time, we do not know what Greg's new job will be. God's plans for us are greater than all our dreams. We rest in Jesus Christ Who is not only our Savior, but the Lord of our lives. He is our King too and we seek to obey His every command.
Greg drove to get our supper at Captain D's and Wendy's. Melvine loves Chili and a baked potato. Greg and I love to get fish, fried okra, corn on the cob, with hush puppies.
Hopefully, we can all sleep in on Saturday morning.
We want to thank all of you who have prayed for Melvine, Greg, and me. God has heard your voice in heaven and has answered your prayer request for our healing. You are a vital part of what God has done.
