Christmas Sunday is always a wonderful time to go to church. The memories we all have of Christmas programs, dramas, cantatas, and singing the Christmas carols and worshiping the Christ Child with the people of God is one of the best times of the year.
Greg and I were up and eating breakfast before Melvine got up out of bed on Sunday. We wanted her to sleep as long as she needed. Greg had to go to church earlier to practice singing with our choir. They sang, "Go Tell It On the Mountain" directed by Pastor Terry Kesling. Greg sang one stanza as a solo. His voice is strong and he has excellent breath control.
Our pastor and some of his helpers enlisted a host of people to participate in the Christmas Celebration.
The pastor's grandchildren sang Christmas carols with delight. They were precious. And they were all girls.
A number of people volunteered to read the narration script fr the program. Several people sang solos that I had not heard sing before and they all did well.
Nancy Till, Arlette Revells, and Jeanette Phillips sang in a trio. Jeanette has a recording voice quality and she sang the stanzas, and Arlette and Nancy joined in on the chorus. They articulated every word and blended well. They reminded me of the McGuire Sisters on the Lawrence Welk Show of years gone by.
Melvine's testimony was her presence in church today. She is a faithful and loyal member of the church. She serves as an inspiration and a role model for faithfulness and loyalty to the church.
After church Greg drove us to Logan's Roadhouse Restaurant in Athens. We were blessed to find a handicap parking space near the entrance. We were seated quickly, and we had an excellent waitress who served us with excellence. The food was good. We enjoyed dining out for a change.
After we came home we all took a nap. We are grateful that we can have a modest home that is comfortable and warm.
On Monday, Greg will take his mother to our grocery store to shop for what she needs to prepare our Christmas dinner at home.
We hope you all had a good day worshiping God at your local church on Christmas Sunday.
We wish you a Merry Christmas.
