Melvine Morgan got herself ready and wore a beautiful dress to church on Sunday, May 26. I did help her put on her ear rings. She is a stylish dresser, and always looks like a millionaire. She is the King's kid.
We drove to church. Chrissy McKenzie met us at our car near the handicap ramp. She got out our walkers and helped Melvine to get inside the church. Her son, David, a 12-year-old boy, takes care of Melvine's walker and brings it back to our pew when church is over. He enjoys helping others.
Church was good. We, as always, have a lot of singing that is led by our pastor and the worship team. Pastor Terry Kesling had a good Memorial Day message. You could tell he put a lot of time into his message and he presents it well. There was special prayer for those in need. In fact, we are all needy people. For most of us, it is difficult to ask for help. God delights in our coming to Him in prayer and wants to help us in our time of need.
In the Book of James, which is our Wisdom Book of the New Testament, we find these words, "You do not have because you have not asked." Sometimes, we don't know exactly what we need.
We welcomed a new couple to our church, Daniel and Jessica. They sat on the first pew and entered into worship with all that was within them. I was impressed. Just as soon as the church worship was over, I walked up to greet them and welcome them to our church. We are blessed to have young couples who attend our church.
It was good to welcome Stan and Marilyn Strickland, and their son, Barry, back to our church. We have loved them for many years. Stan and Marilyn used to play the organ and piano for us. What a marvelous team. Barry plays bass guitar. We miss him and hearing him do those runs on the bass guitar. He gets his gift honestly.
Melvine and Greg prepared our Sunday dinner and it was great.
We, all, took a 2-hour nap after we ate. Sundays are good for those refreshing naps.
We plan to eat a brunch on Memorial Day which is today at Cracker Barrel. That is one of our favorite places to eat.
Greg doesn't have to go back to his school until Tuesday. He will have post planning for a few days and will be leaving to come home.
Greg and I stayed up to watch the annual Memorial Day Musical Program from the west lawn of the Nation's Capitol. As always it was terrific. It is a good thing to remember our young men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend and protect our great country. I liked the singing of "God Bless America."
We are planning a trip to Melvine's hometown, Eden, NC, in June. We haven't made any trips for well over a year.
We thank you all for your prayers for us. Keep on praying.
