Tuesday was a day of rest and recuperation for Melvine.
I had called Comcast to help me with my Internet Connection to my computer in my office in our Florida Room. I was not getting the download speed that I am paying for. My webmaster from his office in Pepin, WI, had run a speed test on my computer. We discussed having the modems moved downstairs.
When the technician came today from Comcast Cable he surveyed the situation. He aptly pointed out that I have two computers upstairs in our bonus room that are plugged directly in to the modems. One of the computers is Greg's, and the other one is mine, which I never use since I am afraid to walk up 14 steps to our bonus room. However, Greg uses his computer and printer upstairs when he is home.
Danny, the Comcast tech, looked at my computer in the Florida Room. I have a new computer that was built for Hugh's News by Vision Computers in Atlanta. It has a card for wireless connection to the modem upstairs. However, the antenna was buried, behind my tower and a glass shelf was blocking the signal. He positioned it in a better place and the speed now is at an optima level. What a blessing that finding was. I have to have the best of the best to do my work as the editor of Hugh's News.
Melvine awakened amid a lot of pain. I prayed for her in the Name of Jesus and I believe God heard my voice and prayer. I told her I could give her the medications I had prepared for her the night before. So, she got up, and after visiting the bathroom she joined me in the family room where I gave her all of her meds in a 3 once Dixie cup. I followed up with taking her vital signs as well as mine. I recorded them in my computer.
I prepared Melvine's breakfast. She wanted frosted flakes. I persuaded her to eat some fresh blueberries I eat daily. She liked it. Today, she made her own cup of coffee and added Hazelnut creamer. For me, I can take or leave coffee. Not so with Melvine. She loves coffee and has to have one or two cups of coffee a day.
For lunch, we got roast beef with wheat bread, lettuce, and potato salad and milk that Meals on Wheels brought to our home. Melvine drank a diet Coke.
I cleaned up the kitchen, washed dishes and silverware in our dishwasher. I had to wash some dark clothes and another load of towels and wash cloths and dry them. Home makers, I am talking to the ladies, you ladies work hard and your work never ends. I am learning what you gals have been doing for years. I can appreciate Melvine more.
Claudia Strickland called and talked with Melvine. They are good friends and enjoy talking. She is one of my best friends and we see her often at church and we go out to eat with her. In recent months, we have not done much eating out.
Bishop Doug Beacham, the General Superintendent of the IPHC, drove over from Franklin Springs where he has been this week, to visit with us. He was able to get Melvine engaged in conversation with him. At one point, Melvine asked me to explain what she was trying to say. She was unable at that point to speak fluently as she has in days gone by. I noticed that the tremors or shaking in her hands and arms are getting be be more apparent and noticeable
Bishop Beacham had prayer with Melvine and he included Greg and me in his pastoral prayer. Doug is still a pastor and shepherd. That is one of many reasons he is an outstanding general superintendent. We are grateful for his friendship and love for us and all the people.
Today, Wednesday, I will be taking Melvine to St. Mary's Hospital for a third MRI on her brain. The first two were negative.
Jeanette and Ken Phillips will help me with Melvine by getting her a wheel chair at the hospital, check her in, and take her to the second floor to have the MRI.
I need to get me a simple cell phone. These smart phones are too sophisticated for me. I got one, but never was able to learn to use it. All I need is a telephone to use when I travel somewhere, or should our power go off, my landline with Comcast will be useless. I need a second phone to keep us connected to the outside world.
Melvine is in bed. I hope to join her soon.
Thanks for your prayers and cards. Your cards, notes, and letters cheer Melvine's heart and lifts her spirit. They bless me too.
