What a joy it was for Melvine and me to attend Sunday school once again. It has been several months since we were able to be present for Sunday school. We believe everybody ought to be in Sunday school.
On Sunday, Arlette Revells was our facilitator. We studied about Jesus as Savior.
One of the key Scriptures she used was this one recorded in the Gospel of Luke:
Luke 2:27-35
27 Moved by the Spirit, he (Simeon) went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for Him what the custom of the Law required, 28 Simeon took Him in his arms and praised God, saying:
29 "Sovereign Lord, as You have promised,
You now dismiss Your servant in peace.
30 For my eyes have seen Your Salvation,
31 which You have prepared in the sight of all people,
32 a Light for revelation to the Gentiles
and for glory to Your people Israel."
33 The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about Him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This Child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, 35 so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too."
NIV
The word for Salvation here is Sozo in the Greek. It includes healing as well as eternal salvation.
Arlette enlisted just about everyone in the discussion. She is a gracious Christian lady and gifted by God in so many areas where God is using her in ministry.
We are grateful to God for friends like Lavon and Arlette Revells. They are faithful and loyal members of our church, Christian Life Worship Center.
Then, we were blessed to enter into worship in the sanctuary of our church. Pastor Terry Kesling does a good job leading our singing and preaching. He takes time to pray for those with special needs and those who need healing.
At the close of the service, Allison Mann Moody, led a group of volunteers to hang the greens--decorate the church for Advent and Christmas. Allison is the daughter of Dr. Frank and Mrs. Mann of Franklin Springs, GA. Dr. Mann is
now retired as a science teacher at Emmanuel College. Allison's husband plays guitar on the worship team. They have a beautiful six-year-old daughter whose name is Lynlee. When they announce Children's Church Lynlee runs to the door leading to the educational wing.
Let me invite you and your family to visit our church, Christian Life Worship Center, 125 Kathwood Drive, Athens, Georgia 30607. You may call the church at 706.353.1978.
