I have known Wesley and Jeanie Peyton since 1975 when I became president of Southwestern College. Wesley invited our Great Life Singers to sing a concert at his church in Silver Springs, Maryland, as I recall. I was greatly impressed by the way in which he made us welcome and made sure that our every need was met.
For some reason, and I don't remember the details of it, I had to fly back to Oklahoma and to Southwestern to take care of an emergency. Wesley drove me to the BWI International Airport. I remember that Wesley and I immediately bonded, and we have been friends since those days.
Since then, we have enjoyed being with Wesley and Jeanie on numerous occasions when they would drive down to Athens from Virginia to see their son, Wes Jr. and his family. We have enjoyed many breakfasts at Cracker Barrel, and he and I have played golf together. My golf days are over. I have given away my golf bag and golf clubs. Wesley reports that he plays often. I am happy for him.
Wesley and Jeanie now reside in Myrtle Beach. However, Wesley has not, as yet, supplied me with his mailing address.
